While he would have preferred to be on the front row, Michael Schumacher is not bothered about being third on the grid for the British Grand Prix. And remains full of confidence for the race ahead.

“I am still confident, given that our performance in the last few races has been very consistent. So far, the Bridgestone tyres have been exceptional during the race and I hope that will be the case tomorrow.”

The world champion expects a straight fight between the top placed drivers on the grid and is motivated at the prospect of an in-house battle with fellow Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello. “It is always a good challenge fighting with your team-mate,” said Michael Schumacher.

“When Rubens does better in practice and qualifying it just pushes me to try even harder. Of course, we will try and find out why and try to modify my car to try similar set-ups. Very often it works, but sometimes, like today unfortunately I have not managed to do better.”

During the first two days here at Silverstone, Ferrari has been trying a comparative test between two rear lights, a red one and a blue one. Michael does not think there is much difference between them. “It did not have the effect we were expecting. Actually, when it rains very hard and the car in front is throwing up so much water, you can’t see anything, whatever the colour of the light!”
