After deciding to leave the Arrows team, Heinz-Harald Frentzen has been working to secure a new drive for the 2003 season. This weekend it has been confirmed that he will drive for Sauber next year, and is looking forward to renewing some old acquaintances. Frentzen confirmed the move in a statement to the press on Friday. “I am pleased to announce that I will drive the 2003 season for Team Sauber Petronas,” said the 35-year-old.

“My relationship with Peter Sauber has always been something special. He gave me the chance in Formula One and, with that, the basis for my career.

“When I left Team Sauber in 1996, I always clearly said that at some time or other I would like to come back to this team.

“The performance of Sauber Petronas in the last years has really impressed me and I am convinced that together we can be successful.”

Heinz-Harald has scored two valuable World Championship points for the Arrows team this year, and his 2002 season was also notable for a gritty drive in the wet at Silverstone. This site wishes Heinz-Harald and his fans well for the 2003 season.
