Arrows Technical Director Mike Coughlan has proclaimed his team to be top of F1’s ‘division two’. In a recent report in Motorsport news Coughlan talked about how relieved he was that the A23 was finally competitive and capable of points finishes. Coughlan's comments come about as a result of Heinz-Harald Frentzen's fine sixth placed finish at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend, scoring the team their first points of the 2002 World Championship.

"I think we are now top of division two," Coughlan has been quoted as saying by the paper. "We proved on Sunday that we could race and beat BAR and we’ve moved closer to Sauber – although they still have the edge.

"I was just relieved to be competitive, on the pace and scoring points."

"At the start of the season, nobody would have believed that we’d be able to challenge Sauber," Heinz-Harald Frentzen added. "Now it looks like we’re very close. We’re up there and beating BAR and the Jordans. That is a milestone for us, but there’s still room for improvement."

Frentzen's words will get the first test at the next Grand Prix in Austria next weekend.
