The F1 press pack managed to catch up with Craig Pollock in the paddock at the Canadian Grand Prix last weekend. The media were keen to quiz him on the deal that he allegedly brokered to secure the short term future of the OrangeArrows team, as published by Autosport magazine.

Last week this site covered an interview given to Autosport magazine where Tom Walkinshaw assured fans that the team’s short term future was secure. This assurance came in the form of a new sponsorship deal, and a new investor’s deal. According to the motorsport magazine, it’s sources indicated that ex-BAR boss Craig Pollock was partly behind the investment deal, although neither Arrows or Pollock were prepared to comment at the time.

F1 journalists caught up with Pollock in the paddock at the Canadian Grand Prix, and put the speculation to him. According to the Montréal Gazette newspaper Pollock has rubbished the claims. “I have been talking to Tom Walkinshaw about many things and I’ve been in and out of there the same way I’ve been in and out of Jordan and I’ve been in and out to see Frank [Williams].

“I already have one team, why would I want another? I have to keep my eye on the sport and to know what’s happening,” he added.

Journalists were also keen for Tom Walkinshaw’s point of view on the matter. His response was considerably sharper, and a lot more direct. “How can I react to those crazy rumours?” he stated briefly.

It seems that the only truth in the article published by the motorsport magazine is the fact that Tom has secured short term funds in order to keep the team funded. Go, go Arrows !
