For the WilliamsF1 team it would only be a tenth placed finish for Mark Webber. Nico Rosberg would retire in his garage. Nico would retire with falling water pressure that would see the team advise him to drive slowly back to his pit. Mark had a strong race even if it only did result in a tenth.

Turkish GP Race Review

The fifty eight lap Turkish Grand Prix would see mark Webber and Nico Rosberg starting from ninth and fourteenth grid positions. After qualifying Mark spoke of his concern over the teams use of extra tyres during the qualifying session which could see him struggle in the race. The weather was again very hot and sunny as the grid moved away with Massa at the front. Next to him was team-mate Michael Schumacher followed by the Renault's of Alonso and Fisichella.

WebberThe grid would form up and the start of the race would see Massa lead from Michael but further back several cars would come together. Mark was up into fourth and Alonso third. button was in fifth and Rosberg sixth. Heidfeld would return to the pits with a damaged front wing. Fisichella would also pit along with Ralf Schumacher. Raikkonen had a left rear wheel puncture as a result of the accident. Fisichella would get a new front wing. Massa was still leading with a fastest lap, 1m:29.959, with Michael still second.

Button had passed Mark for fourth. Nico was still sixth. Monteiro had stopped out on the circuit. Kimi would return at the end of the field. Raikkonen would crash in a big accident on lap three. Lap four and Massa was now 3.2 seconds in front of Michael. The first corner accident was started by Fisichella spinning. Mark and Nico were running in fifth and sixth. Kimi's accident appeared to be caused by a failure that would see him run straight off into the tyre barrier at Turn eight.

Lap five and Kubica would pass Nico at the end of the main starlight. He would start to attack Mark who was 5.3 seconds behind Button. Lap seven would see a new fastest lap from Massa, 1m:29.663. Lap twelve and Michael would set a new fastest lap, 1m:28.791, and he had closed to now be just 2.2 seconds behind Massa. Liuzzi would spin from thirteenth just after Turn one. He would get out of his car and retire.

The safety car would be deployed as Liuzzi's car was in a very dangerous position with his nose just on the ripple strip but the rear pointing out onto the track. Both Ferrari's would pit, joined by Alonso, Button, and Webber. Michael had to queue up behind Massa in the pit lane. This would see Alonso been able to get out in front of Michael. The safety car would come in at the end of lap sixteen. The top six cars had pitted but those following did not. Nico was now in
fifth and Mark eleventh as the safety car pulled off the track.

WebberMassa would lead from Alonso and Michael. Mark was down in eleventh due to the fact that the six cars in front of him had not pitted under the safety car. Alonso was 1.2 seconds behind Massa. Button was attacking third placed Michael. Lap eighteen and the order was Massa from Alonso, Michael, Button, Nico, Klien, de la Rosa, and eighth placed Trulli. Kubica would pass Mark for eleventh at the end of the main straight. Mark would also be passed by Fisichella. This would see him down in twelfth.

Fisichella was able to pass Kubica while Mark was pushed further down the order by Ralf Schumacher. Nico was till in fifth, 1.4 seconds behind Button. Lap twenty one and Massa was leading by 3.2 seconds from Alonso. De la Rosa would pas Klien on the main straight moving into sixth. Massa would extend his lead to 4.2 seconds on lap twenty three. Ralf had passed Kubica at Turn twelve, pushing the BMW driver down to thirteenth. Mark was just 0.6 further back in fourteenth. Massa would slowly increase his lead, 4.4 seconds on lap twenty four. De la Rosa would pass Nico for fifth.

On lap twenty six we would see Trulli, Coulthard, and Nico all pit. But for Nico his progress to the pits was slow and he would retire in his garage. Klien would also pit on lap twenty seven. On the same lap Massa would set a new fastest lap with a 1m:28.459. His lead was now 6.7 seconds over Alonso. Mark was now in ninth. Mark was right behind seventh placed de la Rosa. Lap thirty three and Ralf would pit from fifth. Mark was still been closely followed by Rubens. Mark was now in seventh 1.0 seconds behind de la Rosa. Mark would continue to follow Pedro as on lap thirty eight Massa would set a fastest lap, 1m:28.123. Massa would pit on lap forty as Barrichello would pass Mark for sixth. Alonso would also pit, joined by Button. Mark would also pit from seventh just after having repassed Rubens.

Michael was now leading as Mark would run wide at Turn eight. He was following Kubica who was to also run wide at the same turn. lap forty one and a fastest lap from Michael, 1m:28.106. Michael's lead was now 6.9 seconds ahead of Massa. Alonso was 9.1 seconds behind Massa. Mark would pass Kubica going into the hairpin at the final corner. Mark was now in thirteenth. Button was in fourth followed by de la Rosa, Barrichello, Fisichella, and Trulli.

Lap forty four and Michael would pit and was able to come out behind Alonso. Michael had closed the gap to Alonso. Klien would pit from tenth. Barrichello would pit on lap forty five. Trulli would come in on the same lap. Michael was now right behind Alonso. Mark was now in eleventh as at the front Michael continued to follow Alonso. Alonso was certainly defending his position with his pace slowly slightly see Massa open up a 11.5 seconds lead after lap forty eight. With ten laps remaining Massa was looking like he would score his maiden win but could Michael pass Alonso?

WebberMark was now in tenth but was been challenged by Coulthard. Lap fifty and Alonso was just 0.7 in front of Michael. But the next lap Michael had closed to be just 0.4 seconds behind the Renault. Button was still in fourth followed by de la Rosa, Fisichella, Ralf, Barrichello, Trulli and tenth placed Mark. Alonso would close in on some backmarkers on lap fifty three. Speed would let them pass and they would come up behind Kubica. Kubica would also move out of the way allowing the quicker pair past. On the start-finish straight Alonso would pull away slightly but Michael would be strong under brakes.

Lap fifty five and Michael was able to close in onto Alonso with a fastest lap, 1m:28.005. Alonso was now 8.1 seconds behind Massa at the end of lap fifty six. Mark was still in tenth as Michael could not get pass Alonso. Michael was running out of time as they started their final lap.
