The WilliamsF1
team would move to the Jerez circuit for further testing of the teams 2007
Toyota engine and gearbox. Returning from Japan was team test driver Alex
Wurz, who would join Narain Karthikeyan on the first day of testing.
On a dry and sunny day the team
aimed on further testing the Toyota engine and both drivers would have
varying degrees of success. For Alex Wurz he would complete one hundred and
nine laps, the most on the day, and would conduct a full race simulation in
the afternoon without any problems. Prior to that Alex had carried out tyre
testing.
As for team-mate Narain Karthikeyan his day was the complete opposite with
his car stopping on the circuit with electrical problems twice during the
day. He would complete just eleven laps in the day.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented on the days testing.
He said: “Alex and Narain were driving today with the new gearbox and Toyota
engine in both cars. Alex completed a front tyre construction test in the
morning and we then moved onto a race distance run in the afternoon which
was successfully completed. We carried out some engine mapping work on
Narain's car before we had some teething problems which prevented us
completing all the running we had planned. The team will continue working on
the car tonight to be back on track tomorrow.” |
