Nakajima tests for WilliamsF1 at Jerez

The final day of testing for the WilliamsF1 team at the Jerez circuit would see test driver Kazuki Nakajima have his first opportunity to test with the team. But wet conditions at the start of the day would limit his track time.

KakajimaIt would not be until the afternoon that the Japanese driver was able to take to the circuit. He would spend his time familiarising himself with the Fw28 and its Toyota engine. But his day would be cut short when he would bring out a red flag on the circuit when his Toyota engine was to fail sending plumes of smoke out the rear of the car.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented: “Although he has already briefly driven the car in Fuji, today was effectively Kazuki's first day testing a Formula One car. There was very heavy rain in the morning and the track was very slow to dry, so we were forced to wait for more favorable conditions before starting our programme. When he did get out on track, Kazuki spent the day familiarising himself with the car and making adjustments between runs to suit his driving style. He made good progress and his lap times improved throughout the session.”
