The AT&T
Williams team would return to testing, this time at the Jerez de la Frontera
circuit in Spain. This was after their aborted test at the Circuit de
Catalunya which saw the team having to cope with an unexpected front wing
failure on Kazuki Nakajima's car that they were not able to resolve at the
track.
The
test at Jerez will be for four days with the team working on further
development of the FW30. Both race drivers, Kazuki Nakajima and Nico
Rosberg, were present. The FW30 would run with yet another new livery as the
British squad continue celebrating their 30 years of racing in Formula One.
At the end of the day Kazuki was third fastest and Nico fourth. The new
front wing was given a tick of approval with both drivers having no major
issues. Between the two drivers they would complete one hundred and ninety
two laps.
Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael commented: “We ran two cars on
the first day of this week’s Jerez test, with both the race drivers working
through the test programme. After signing off the revision to the front wing
mounting system, we proceeded to work on mechanical set-up and long runs for
reliability. We had no major issues and both Nico and Kazuki will continue
with the programme tomorrow.”
