Hulkenberg hopeful of F1 drive in 2010

AT&T Williams test driver Nico Hülkenberg has spoken of his hopes to secure a full time seat as early as 2010. Hulkenberg has being successful in other categories of racing and as a result was drafted into the Williams team.

HulkenbergCurrently Nico is competing in the GP2 series while he continues to test for the Williams team. Recently Nico was given the task of debuting the 2009 FW331.

In a recent interview for the Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell Hulkenberg said: “I hope they turn to me if a place becomes available.”

"Nico added: That is absolutely my personal goal.” But the restrictions on his role of a test driver will limit his time behind the wheel in a Formula One car.

Nico spoke of these restrictions by saying: “Last year I drove ten days, this year there will be probably no more than five. But the team already knows from last year how I drive.”

I see no problem with that. Either Rosberg goes or we have Cosworth power and Naka goes. Hulk's porenrial is great and I'm sure he'd be an asset to the team.

He hasn't shown much in testing, consistently at the foot of the timesheets. I'm not as impressed as you Lurcher.

Yes, I'm quite sceptical about Hulkenberg, he was so slow in testing last year even Jean-Denis Deletraz (remember him?) would have probably gone quicker. But hopefully a season in GP2 and a second season as Williams tester will speed him up a bit.

Hes still 20years old, he has 2 Championships in F3, and one race in GP2.

Where is the problem?

I hope that won't happen.regardless to his skills, I think we had our share of giving rookies their first year and pay for that.
Let's hope that the team performs good enough to decide about its line-up with more options.
