Day three of the AT&T Williams teams Jerez test would see Nico Rosberg continue the teams final preparations for the first race of the season in Melbourne. Nico would continue the test schedule comprising of aero evaluations, tyre testing, reliability checks and set-up tuning. This was Nico's final day in the car before Australia.

RosbergNico Rosberg would cause the first red flag of the day late in the day when he was to crash at Turn eight. This would see the end of Rosberg's day with his FW31 ending up in the tyre barrier sustaining some damage to the rear of the FW31, with the right rear wheel was hanging off the car. His crash was similar to that of Alonso on Sunday.

At the time Nico had set the second fastest time with a 1m:18.071. This was just 0.22 seconds behind the quickest time. Prior to his accident Nico was completing longer runs with his times in the 1m:20 seconds. At the end of the day Nico's time would be the second quickest time of the day. Kazuki will take over tomorrow for the remaining two days.

Williams F1 Technical Director Sam Michael commented: “Today, we worked on our race starts process and mechanical set-ups with Nico. We then moved onto long runs in order to evaluate different aero parts. Unfortunately, Nico had an off this afternoon so preparations to turn the car around for Kazuki’s arrival tomorrow started slightly earlier than scheduled.”
