With AT&T
Williams driver Nico Rosberg scoring a series of points scoring results over
the middle part of the 2009 Formula One season the Williams team has moved
into sixth place in the Constructors Championship. As for Nico he has moved
into fifth in the Drivers Championship.
For
Nico this success has come from the rate of development that the team has
been able to achieve with the FW31. Nico is of the view that the Williams
team is now in a position to be challenging to be the second quickest team.
In an interview for autosport.com Nico said:
"I'm pleased. The team is progressing really well, and we are right up
performance-wise. It's nice."
"Obviously McLaren has made a big jump and they are level with us now, I
think. I think we are in a great position, because at the moment we are
fighting to be the second best team.
"We are right up there. Red Bull is currently quickest, but then there's
already us and McLaren. We are looking good at the moment."
As for how the team is achieving their success Nico feels that this is due
to a better
understanding of the car. He also feels that the fat that the pace of
development of the FW31, with new parts been added at every race, is
also allowing them to make big gains. Compare to previous seasons the team
is moving forward far better.
Nico added:
"I think a lot of if is from understanding [the car], but also development
is a factor. We are doing a good job. I'm pushing hard on my
direction, which seems to be working well. So I think it's a combination of
everything.
"It's nice to see because we've always struggled in development over the
last few years and this year we are really stepping up the game and we are
bringing new parts every single time and they are always working for us, so
it's good."
