Nico's contract with the Williams team will finish at the end of the 2009 season. Frank Williams spoke of how Nico is high on his list of drivers for 2010. But he laso knows that Nico could be high on McLaren's list of possible drivers for 2010.
Rosberg
high on Williams list
The future
prospects of Nico Rosberg is very much a point of discussion amongst the
media and supporters. For Williams team boss Frank Williams
he has expressed a desire to keep Nico Rosberg for the 2010 season.
With
Rosberg currently fifth in the Drivers championship and having scored all of
the team's points so far this year he certainly is certainly delivering for
the Williams team. For Frank
Williams he has spoken of his desire to keep Nico at the team but is
realistic enough to know that McLaren is also interested in him.
In an interview for autosport.com Frank said: "He is very much on our list. I would have
thought he must be on the McLaren list if they do drop Kovalainen, and I
think Norbert [Haug] would love a German driver. We will see."
He added: "Nico is, on any three or five lap, he is the most exciting driver
on the track. He digs himself out of some holes that we put him in some
times - comes by three places up at the end of the first lap.
"He is single minded, chirpy, a little arrogant which is good – he is always
very good with the promo people, never an objection, he is very good."
As for when a decision will be made in regard to the Williams teams 2010
driver line-up Frank said:
"It won't be months away, it will be the next few weeks where we get one
position sorted out and hopefully soon after the second one.
"But I was reading the transcript of the FIA press conference, and agreed
with what they were saying: it is a work in progress! I should have just
said that – and put a sign around my chest this afternoon."
