AT&T Williams driver Pastor Maldonado would again lead his more experienced team-mate Rubens Barrichello after the final practice session for the 2011 Malaysian GP. Pastor would finish in fourteenth and Rubens sixteenth. It was a session that saw no real improvement from either driver compared to their Friday practice. Qualifying is going to be difficult for the Williams team.

As the drivers prepared for the final Saturday practice for the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix the AT&T Williams team would be hoping to see some improved pace after having both drivers outside the top ten after Friday. With the start of the session there was a steady flow of drivers taking to the track with Pastor Maldonado first of the Williams drivers to take to the track. Rubens Barrichello would follow him out shortly after. Just as quickly the drivers would return to their pits. With five minutes of the session only the two HRT cars had yet to leave the pit lane. Schumacher and Webber were the only drivers out on the track with Webber pitting followed by Schumacher leaving the track empty.

Ten minutes of the session completed and no times had been set as the weather reports had rain showers to the south of the circuit. Drivers started to return to the track with D'Ambrosio, Petrov, Trulli, and Kovalainen coming out. Perez was next out followed by Kobayashi, Heidfeld, and Schumacher. Karthikeyan would come out in his HRT to the first time. More drivers started to come out including Glock, Hamilton, as Petrov sets the first time with a 1m:47.673 with D'Ambrosio second. Trulli was now fastest with a 1m:42.084 but team-mate Kovalainen would move ahead with a 1m:41.868.

Rosberg and Webber were also out on the track as Perez moved into second, 1m:41.902. Petrov would go fastest with a 1m:39.884. Schumacher was in fifth from Glock and Kobayashi. Rubens was now getting his helmet on while Pastor had left the pit lane. Heidfeld was now fastest with a 1m:39.426 from Hamilton and Petrov as more drivers set times. Vettel was also out on the track as Button moved up to eleventh, 1m:44.517. Hamilton would improve to be fastest with a 1m:38.940. Webber was down in twelfth followed by Rosberg. Pastor was on his first lap while Button moved up to second
with a 1m:39.172. Petrov was now third while Vettel would move up to fourth, 1m:39.348. Hamilton would pit while Heidfeld moved back up to second with a lap of 1m:39.058.

Pastor was in ninth after his lap of 1m:40.580. Rubens was now out on the track with thirty six minutes remaining. Petrov would pit followed by Heidfeld. Vettel was on a quicker lap but he would pit instead of completing his lap. Rosberg would move up to seventh, 1m:40.202. Pastor would find time seeing him improve to be sixth, 1m:39.995. Rubens was in eighteenth with a 1m:44.612 but he was on an improved lap moving up to tenth, 1m:40.544. Pastor was on the harder tyre for his series of laps. Pastor would improve his time with a 1m:39.618 but remained in sixth. Alonso would move ahead of Pastor with a 1m:39.407 while Rubens had dropped to twelfth. Karthikeyan had set a 1m:45.186 to be slowest.

With thirty mi9nutes of the session complete Hamilton was fastest from Heidfeld, Button, Petrov in fourth. But Alonso would improve to now be fourth with a 1m:39.237. Petrov was now fifth from Vettel, Pastor, Perez, Sutil, Rosberg, Buemi, and Rubens in twelfth. Pastor had pitted while Rubens was still out on the track. Alonso's next lap was a 1m:39.053 to see him second. Massa was now up to fifth, 1m:39.247, as Petrov returned to the track. Di Resta would spin at the final turn but he was able to continue. Rubens had now pitted while at the front Massa would go fastest with a 1m:38.926, running on the harder tyres. Pastor was now in eighth and Rubens thirteenth. Di Resta would again spin at Turn fourteen again continuing.

More drivers were returning to the track for their final runs on the harder tyre prior to their
qualifying simulations. Pastor would return to the track on an older set of tyres while both
Ferrari's had pitted. Webber was down in twenty first as completing a longer run on the harder tyre. Button was now fastest with a 1m:38.464 on the harder tyre while Alguersuari would move up to second on the option tyre. Vettel was now fastest with a 1m:38.213, again running on the hard tyre. Button was second with Buemi third. Rubens had also returned to the track Massa was now fifth from Hamilton, Alonso, Heidfeld, Petrov, and Pastor in tenth. Rubens had improved to be eleventh with a lap of 1m:39.631. Schumacher was out on the option tyre and his lap would see him second with a 1m:38.300.

Vettel had improved with a 1m:38.016 as Rosberg moved up to third with a 1m:38.307. Rosberg was also on the option tyre. Rubens was also out on the option tyre with fifteen minutes remaining. His lap would see him in sixth with a 1m:38.681. Pastor was down in thirteenth still running on the harder tyre. Only three drivers were on the track Alonso, Pastor, and Kobayashi. Alonso was on the softer tyre as Massa came back out. Pastor would also pit as Alonso set a new fastest lap with a 1m:37.284. He was 0.732 ahead of Vettel's time set on the prime. Button was back out as Massa set a 1m:37.762 to move up to second. His time was also on the option tyre. With nine minutes remaining more drivers started to return to the track. Rosberg, Hamilton, Petrov, Heidfeld, Glock, and Alguersuari were all out for their final runs.

Button was on a better lap on the softer tyre finishing fastest with a 1m:36.805. Alonso had pitted while both Williams cars were still in their pits. Webber was out on the option tyre. Petrov was now third with a 1m:37.297 while Rubens had returned to the track. Pastor was the last driver to come out with the track now full cars. Hamilton was on a quicker lap going fastest with a 1m:36.340. Four minutes remaining as Heidfeld moved into third. Massa had pitted as Webber complete his lap to move into second with a 1m:36.630. Button was now third with a 1m:36.762 from Heidfeld, Alonso, Petrov, Massa, Vettel, Schumacher, and Rosberg. Rubens was down in fifteenth while Pastor was in nineteenth. Pastor was on a quicker lap moving up to fourteenth, 1m:38.597. Rubens was in sixteenth, 1m:38.681.

Vettel was on a improved lap moving up to fifth with a 1m:371.75 as the session came to an end. Pastor had pitted from fourteenth while Perez had moved up to twelfth, 1m:38.448. Rubens was down in sixteenth while both HRT cars were outside of the 107% rule, so if it was qualifying they would not be starting the race. So with the end of the session it was Hamilton from Webber, Button, Heidfeld, Vettel, Alonso, Petrov, Massa, Kobayashi, and Schumacher in tenth. For the Williams team the session did not see any improvement from either driver with both Pastor and Rubens well off the pace. But for Pastor it must be encouraging to again finish ahead of Rubens.
