The AT&T Williams F1 team looks back at their 2011 British Grand Prix.

| Rubens Barrichello led home another two-car finish for AT&T Williams today, crossing the line in 13th position and less than a second ahead of Pastor Maldonado after 52 laps of racing at the British Grand Prix. The changeable conditions made for a difficult start to the race with both drivers initially dropping back from their respective 15th and seventh grid places. However, after some quick and clean pitstops, Rubens’ two-stop strategy moved him ahead of Pastor. The pair then raced to the chequered flag with Pastor closing the gap to just 0.8 seconds as they crossed the finish line. |
Rubens Barrichello:
![]() "We didn't have the best of starts and fell back quite a bit. Strangely, the car didn't feel good in the wet and it was a struggle to keep it on the track. It was also difficult to keep up with the guys in front of us. We had hoped for a better result at our home Grand Prix." |
Pastor Maldonado: "It
was quite difficult for us today especially with the light rain shortly
before the start. Our car set‐up was geared towards a dry race so we
were compromised from the outset. Towards the end, our performance wasbetter but by that stage it was too late. Unfortunately it wasn’t the best weekend for us." |
Sam Michael
Technical Director WilliamsF1: "Our
pace on the intermediate tyre wasn't good enough today. Compared to some
of the guys in the top ten, our lap times on the dry tyre were
respectable, but we just lost too much time in the opening laps to be
able to make up any ground. We ran different strategies on the two cars
to attempt to do something different to recover but it wasn't meant to
be today. Pastor suffered some damage to his front wing and came home
14th, Rubens one place higher in P13." |
