Rubens leaves the pits

Both AT&T Williams F1 drivers would finish outside top ten after the final Saturday practice for the 2011 Hungarian GP. Rubens Barrichello would finish in 14th while Pastor Maldonado was 15th. For the Williams team their pace would most likely see them make it into the second period of qualifying but not any further as they look to find further pace from the FW33. But having said that their final pace in the session was not that far off that of one of their major rivals Sauber.
Hungarian GP Saturday
Practice
The final
practice session for the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix would be run under sunny
conditions with both AT&T Williams F1 drivers looking to improve from their
Friday performances. Team driver Rubens Barrichello would have his sons in
the Williams garage as he prepared for the start of the hour long session.
With the start of the session both Rubens and team-mate Pastor Maldonado
would take to the track returning shortly
after their installation laps. Both drivers would be testing the new rear
wing in this session.
It would not be until around twenty minutes into the session that both
Rubens and Pastor would come out for their first serious runs. With twenty
five minutes of the session completed Rubens was in eighth with 1m:24.954
while Pastor was just outside the top 10 as they continued on their first
runs. Rubens would pit but would return to the track still on the prime
tyre. Midway through the session Pastor would put two wheels in the gravel
seeing him returning to his pit.
With just over twenty minutes left in the session Rubens was tenth with a
lap time of 1m:24.954 while Pastor was in fourteenth, 1m:25.265. At this
time Vettel was fastest from Rosberg and Hamilton.
Both drivers would go out on their qualifying practice runs, both using the
super soft tyre. Rubens would set a time good enough for tenth but despite
been substantially quicker on the option tyre Rubens and Pastor would finish
the session in fourteenth and fifteenth. Rubens time was a 1m:23.663 while
Pastor had set a 1m:23.894. With the end of the session it would be Vettel
who was fastest, 1m;21.168, from Alonso and Button.
For the Williams
team their pace would most likely see them make it into the second period of
qualifying but not any further as they look to find further pace from the
FW33. But having said that their final pace in the session was not that far
off that of one of their major rivals Sauber and ahead of both Torro Rosso
cars.
