For the Williams F1 team the second Friday practice session for the 2013 Spanish GP would again see Valtteri Bottas finish ahead of Pastor Maldonado but again both drivers would finish well down the times in 14th and 15th. A lot of work for the team to do overnight.

The second Friday practice for the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix would see the cars go out in sunshine, a big change from the opening session. For the Williams F1 team they would continue with their updates in this session. Several drivers would use a new prototype tyre that Pirelli had supplied, including both Williams drivers Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado. After their first runs the Williams pair would be in seventeenth and eighteenth with Valtteri leading Pastor. With fifteen minutes of the session completed Rosberg was fastest, 1m:23.801, from Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso, Ricciardo, Vergne, Webber, Massa, Gutierrez, and Vettel tenth.

After completing five laps both Williams drivers would pit but after a short break they would return to the track. They were both again on the hard tyre but this time it was the standard tyre. Vergne would go out on the medium tyre as Valtteri started a quicker lap. He would finish his lap with a 1m:25.401 to be sixth but was 1.6 seconds off the quickest time of Rosberg. Pastor would also improve with a 1m:25.570 to be seventh. The Williams team was conducting front wing comparisons as Webber went fastest with a 1m:23.112 with Vettel second. Vergne was now fifth, 1m:24.058, on his medium tyre. Pastor had improved with a 1m:25.321 to move ahead of Valtteri. Pastor and Valtteri were tenth and eleventh with the track now very busy.

Alonso would go fastest with a 1m:23.030 with Massa now third. Pastor and Valtteri had dropped to fourteenth and fifteenth and had both pitted. Just under an hour remaining and the track was fairly empty as Webber took to the track on the medium tyre. He would set a 1m:22.891 to go quickest. Pastor was also on the track on the medium tyre joined shortly after by Valtteri. Vettel was also out on the medium tyre and would go fastest with a 1m:22.808. Valtteri would find time with his medium tyres setting a 1m:24.888 to be twelfth. Pastor was down in fifteenth as Massa moved up to fourth, 1m:23.110. Ferrari team-mate Alonso would go second fastest with a 1m:22.825 while Sutil would move up to seventh with a time of 1m:23.840.

Hamilton and Rosberg were fifth and sixth as both Williams drivers pitted. Raikkonen was now fourth, 1m:23.030, with forty minutes remaining in the session. Valtteri had dropped to fourteenth with Pastor sixteenth. Drivers were now out doing longer runs on the medium tyre. Valtteri would return to the track again on the medium tyre. With thirty minutes remaining Vettel was still fastest from Alonso, Webber, Raikkonen, Massa, Hamilton, Rosberg, Sutil, Vergne, and Di Resta tenth. Pastor would join his team-mate out on the track with Pastor on the hard tyre. There were only the Sauber's in the pits with twenty minutes remaining. Vettel would pit while Di Resta would stop out on the track with his left rear tyre looking very damaged as the tread had came off the carcass of the tyre.

Valtteri would pit briefly with fifteen minutes remaining. Both Williams drivers were out on longer runs as the final minutes of the session started. Valtteri had completed thirty four laps with Pastor thirty two. Pastor had also come in for a practice pit stop but he would pit with a few minutes remaining. The session would come to an end with Valtteri and Pastor's position unchanged. Both Williams drivers would finish the session over two seconds off the quickest time with the team again having a lot of work to assess the data from the Friday sessions to see if they can find more pace from the FW35.
