Qualifying for the 2013 Indian GP would see Williams F1 drivers Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado finiish in 15th and 18th, with Valtteri again leading his more experienced team-mate. Both drivers for different reasons would have difficulties during the session seeing their poor times.

The final practice session for the 2013 Indian Grand Prix would see Williams F1 drivers Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas finish in twelfth and sixteenth. After the problems on Friday it was encouraging to see Pastor finish close to the top ten as the team prepared for qualifying. In the lead-up to qualifying many teams had struggled with the softer option tyre and there were questions as to whether any that make it into the final period of qualifying would qualify on the prime medium tyre rather than the soft. There was no sign of the haze that had delayed the Saturday practice session.

The first twenty minute period would commence with Gutierrez straight out running on the medium tyre. Next out was Rosberg also on the medium tyre. More drivers would come out including Button, Hulkenberg, Di Resta, and Sutil. A 1m:27.529 from Gutierrez as Hamilton, Ricciardo, and Chilton came out. More drivers were coming out with the likes of Massa, Raikkonen, Vergne, Van der Gar, and Bianchi took to the track. Gutierrez would pit as Valtteri Bottas came out for Williams. A 1m:32.452 from Sutil with Hulkenberg setting a1m;27.560. Pastor Maldonado was now out on the track as Chilton went third. Rosberg's first flying lap was a 1m:26.622 with Hamilton second with a 1m:27.262. Sutil was now third, 1m:27.287, with Button now fourth. Di Resta was now second, 1m:27.193, with Massa now fifth, 1m:27.370.

Raikkonen would move up to second with a 1m:26.817 with Hulkenberg now third followed by Di Resta. Perez would set a 1m:26.533 to go quickest while Rosberg was on a quicker lap finishing with a 1m:26.252 t again be quickest. For Williams Valtteri had set a 1m:28.494 and Pastor a 1m:28.380 having completed four laps each. Button was now fifth followed by Massa and Ricciardo. Raikkonen would improve with a 1m:26.522 to remain second as Valtteri set a 1m:27.153 to be tenth. Pastor's next lap would only see him set a 1m:27.260 to be thirteenth. Alonso was straight out on the soft tyre as Gutierrez set a 1m:26.057 running on the soft tyre to be quickest. Valtteri had pitted as Webber came out on the soft tyre. Pastor would also pit as
Button set an improved 1m:26.762 to be now sixth.

Massa was now seventh with only Alonso, Vettel, and Webber yet to set a time. Valtteri had dropped to be twelfth and Pastor fifteenth with just under five minutes remaining. A 1m:25.934 from Alonso to be quickest while Vettel set a 1m:25.943 to be second running on the medium tyre. His lap saw him fastest in the final two sectors as Webber set a 1m:25.955 to be third. Drivers would start to return to the track after their first runs this time on the softer option tyre. Di Resta would go fastest with a 1m:25.908 but Raikkonen would move ahead with a 1m:25.819. Rosberg was now second with a 1m:25.833 followed by Di Resta, Alonso, Vettel, and Webber. Grosjean was taking a gamble having set his time on the medium tyre.

Webber was now fastest with a 1m:25.665 with Ricciardo now second, Button was able to improve to be fastest with a 1m:25.574 while for Williams Valtteri as fifteenth with a 1m:26.178. He would drop to be sixteenth while Pastor as down in eighteenth with a 1m:26.842. Massa was now fourth, 1m:25.793, as the period came to a close. One of the biggest losers was Grosjean who tried to get through without having changed to the option tyre. For Williams Valtteri would again get the best of his team-mate despite Pastor's good showing in the final practice session. Those not making the cut were Grosjean, Pastor, Bianchi, Van der Gar, Pic, and Chilton. The top ten was Button from Webber, Ricciardo, Massa, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Rosberg, Hulkenberg, Di Resta, and Alonso.

The second period would commence with only one Williams taking part as Raikkonen was the first driver to come out. Softer tyres would be the expected tyre for this period but Hulkenberg would go against the trend coming out on used mediums. A 1m:26.279 from Raikkonen while Alonso also on used soft tyres would set a 1m:25.546 to be quickest. Hulkenberg was third with a 1m:26.871 but he would drop to fourth with Massa going second, 1m:25.611. Di Resta would go third and Ricciardo sixth. Valtteri would take to the track with just under nine minutes remaining.

Rosberg would go fastest with a 1m:25.337 followed by team-mate Hamilton who would go second with a 1m:25.495. Alonso was now third followed by Massa and Di Resta. Valtteri's first lap would see him sixth with a 1m:26.134 using used soft tyres. Button would move ahead of Hamilton to be second with a 1m:25.458. We now had both Red Bull cars out on the track as Valtteri pitted currently in eighth. Vettel was out on new soft tyres joined by Webber. Alonso was back out as Webber set a 1m:25.097 to be two tenths ahead of Rosberg and fastest. Vettel was on a quicker lap and would finish with a 1m:24.568 as Rosberg came back out. Raikkonen was able to move up to third with a 1m:25.191. The only driver yet to set a time was Gutierrez
with all sixteen cars out on the track.

Alonso's next lap would see him second with a 1m:24.885 with Webber now third. The final minute would start with Valtteri now eleventh as Vettel and Raikkonen pitted. Ricciardo would finish his final lap moving into eighth while Hulkenberg would move up to sixth with a 1m:25.339. Valtteri would finish his final lap not improving to finish in fifteenth and out of qualifying. Those not making the cut were Ricciardo, Di Resta, Sutil, Vergne, Valtteri and Gutierrez. The top ten was Vettel from Alonso, Webber, Raikkonen, Hamilton, Rosberg, Hulkenberg, Perez, Massa, and Button tenth.

So for the Williams F1 team the results of qualifying would see their drivers finish in fifteenth in eighteenth with Valtteri leading Pastor. Sunday's race is again going to be a difficult time for the team. Valtteri would explain his failure to improve on his final Q2 lap by saying: “The front temps were not high enough for the timed lap. The rear was there, but the front wasn’t. It was a good lap for the balance that we had.”

The final period would commence with Webber first out followed by Alonso. Both were on the medium tyre possibly indicating that they may have a different strategy for the race. Vettel would come back out on soft tyres followed by Hamilton. Button would also come out on a used medium tyre while Perez was on the softer tyre. Massa, Raikkonen, and Hulkenberg had yet to come out as Alonso set a 1m:25.826 with Webber only setting a slow 1m:37.849 completing a sighting lap. Vettel's lap would see him set a 1m:24.119 as Webber moved up to second with a 1m:25.215.

Hamilton would pit without setting a time. There were just four minutes remaining as Raikkonen started a lap on the softer tyre. The top three had all pitted but Webber would come back out as Raikkonen came third, 1m:25.248. Button was out on the medium tyre with all ten cars out on the track. Hulkenberg and Massa were out on the softer tyre while Rosberg and Hamilton would go second and third running on the option tyre. Webber was still on the medium tyre and would only manage a 1m:25.047 to be fourth. Massa was now fifth and Raikkonen sixth. Hulkenberg was seventh followed by Alonso, Perez, and Button tenth.
