Austrian GP: Top ten for Williams Martini in FP1

The opening Friday practice for the 2015 Austrain GP would see both Williams Martini drivers in the top te. Valttei Bottas would finish the session 4th while team-mate Felipe Massa was 9th. The team had brought a range of upgrades including new rear wing, updates bodywork and new brake ducts. After their first run it would not be until the last half hour that the pair would return to the track.

Team Summary:
Friday practice would see the Williams team bring a range of updates for the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix to test. For the weekend Pirelli had brought their soft and super soft tyres for the weekend. The team had brought a new rear wing, new floor, new rear brake ducts, changes to the underneath of the front of the car. First lap time was a 1m:17.181 from Nasr but Valtteri would go quickest with a 1m:16.162. Felipe and Valtteri would swap quickest times but Rosberg would go quickest with a 1m:12.791 with Hamilton second. More drivers were on the track as Raikkonen went quickest with a 1m:12.442 but Rosberg would again go quickest with a 1m:11.389. Felipe and Valtteri would drop to fifth and sixth with twenty five minutes completed. A 1m:10.840 from Rosberg with Hamilton second.

Rosberg would improve with a 1m:10.401 with Hamilton only on a 1m:11.493. After their first run Felipe and Valtteri were sixth and eighth. It was confirmed that Valtteri was carrying a large number of upgrades brought. With thirty minutes remaining Felipe and Valtteri were eighth and ninth and still in their pits. The pair would drop to thirteenth and fourteenth with twenty minutes left in the session. With eighteen minutes left Felipe would return to the track. Felipe would improve to be seventh dropping to eighth 0.4 behind Valtteri. With the end of the session Rosberg would remain fastest while for Williams Valtteri was fourth and Felipe ninth.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be held up waiting on other cars to come in but he would also complete his installation lap on the soft tyre. Felipe would join Valtteri out on the track for his first run. Felipe's first lap was a 1m:14.969 to be quickest. He would improve with a 1m:14.271. But would drop to second as Valtteri went faster. Twenty minutes into the session Felipe was third dropping to fourth. Felipe would set a 1m:13.456 to be third. Felipe was now sixth after completing eight laps. A 1m:12.121 would see Felipe move into fourth, dropping to sixth. In the pits he would drop to thirteenth. Felipe would be first back out for his second run. Felipe would set a personal best in sector one and would finish with a 1m:11.890 to be seventh. He would drop to eighth complaining of high speed oversteer. Felipe would pit to make a front wing adjustment. He would stop briefly returning to the track but would not improve on his time.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would be first out on his installation lap running on the soft tyre. Valtteri would pit after one lap. After a break Valtteri would return to the track joined by Felipe. Valtteri's first lap time with a 1m:16.162 but would improve with a 1m:15.084. He would go quickest with a 1m:14.160. Valtteri was now fourth as Felipe moved ahead. Valtteri would drop to tenth but his next lap of 1m:12.850 would see him again fourth. A 1m:12.265 from Valtteri would see him fifth prior to pitting. He would drop to eighth having completed eleven laps. While still in his pit Valtteri would drop to fourteenth. With fifteen minutes remaining Valtteri would return to the track. Valtteri would set a 1m:11.769 to be sixth. His next lap would see a 1m:11.452 to be fourth.
