Team Summary:
The second Friday practice would get underway with clouds over the track. There was the possibility of rain in the session. For Williams neither driver had yet to use the ultrasoft tyre but they should come out in this session. A 1m:07.967 from Rosberg to be quickest, from Ricciardo and Vettel. Vettel would move into second as the rain started to fall. Both Williams drivers would report rain and would be told to pit. With ten minutes completed the track was now empty. The rain would stop but the track was still very wet with forty five minutes remaining in the session.

First back out was Ricciardo on the intermediate tyre. He would be followed by more drivers all on the intermediate tyre. Both Williams drivers were out getting some wet weather running. Drivers were doing times in the mid 1m:20s. The track was drying out quickly as several drivers took to the run off areas. The quickest time was a 1m:16.571 from Sainz as the track continued to improve. Everyone had pitted as they all waited for the track to dry further so that they could get some dry running.

First back out would be Vettel on the ultrasoft tyre with twenty minutes remaining. Raikkonen and Ricciardo would also come out followed by others on a mixture of tyres as teams split their strategies with only fifteen minutes remaining. Raikkonen was now eighth with a 1m:09.991. Kvyat would move into seventh and as the session progressed Hamilton would go second with a 1m:07.986 to be behind Rosberg. Hulkenberg would go third followed by Vettel, Ricciardo, Verstappen, Valtteri, Button, Alonso, and Sainz tenth. Rosberg would go quickest in the first two sectors but would pit. Vettel would spin at Turn two as he braked for the corner. It appeared to be an issue with the car rather than a mistake by Vettel. The session would end with Valtteri and Felipe ninth and twelfth. A frustrating session for the Williams team having lost a lot of dry running, but at least they did get some wet running as the is the possibility of further rain over the weekend.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would be first out for Williams running on the supersoft tyre. Valtteri would set a 1m:09.952 to go sixth. He would drop to seventh to be behind Alonso. Valtteri would pit as the heavy rain fell on the track. Valtteri would return to the track using the intermediate tyre. He would set times in the 1m:21s as he continued to circulate around the track. Valtteri would pit having completed eight laps on his wet track run. With twelve minutes remaining Valtteri was back out on a new set of ultrasoft tyres. Valtteri would be on a quick lap but he would fail to improve currently in tenth. His next lap would see him set a 1m:08.941 to be fifth. This would become sixth as Verstappen moved ahead of him, then seventh as Hulkenberg went third. He would finish the session in ninth. Valtteri would say it was quite tricky today. For the wet he added that the car was there or there about.

Felipe Massa:
Felipe would follow Valtteri out but he was on the soft tyre. As the rain started to fall Felipe only would be able to set a 1m:15.476 to be twentieth. Felipe would also pit as the rain came down. Felipe would follow his team-mate also on the intermediate tyre. Felipe would also pit having completed seven laps. Felipe would be stuck in the garage they sorted out an issue with his seat. He would finally get out with five minutes remaining running on the ultrasoft tyre. Felipe would set a 1m:09.184 to be twelfth. Given his technical issue and his lack of track time his time was probably the best that he could hope for.
