Team Summary:
For the Williams Martini team the opening Friday practice session would see Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa finish in seventh and fourteenth. The start of the second Friday session would see a rush of drivers coming out on a mix of soft and medium tyres. It was looking like the teams were running one car with the medium and the other the soft as was the case with Ferrari. After the first times it would be Raikkonen quickest with a 1m:25.123. But Vettel would go faster with a 1m:24.456 on the soft tyre. Perez was third while Hulkenberg was fourth as Rosberg came out on the medium tyre. A 1m:24.444 from Vettel remaining fastest as Rosberg went second with a 1m:24.752 but on the medium tyre.

Raikkonen was now third also on the medium tyre like Rosberg. After their first runs Valtteri and Felipe were fourth and sixth with both on the prototype soft tyre. Hamilton would set a 1m:23.732 to be quickest on the soft tyre. Rosberg would improve with a 1m:24.569 to remain third. Raikkonen was now fifth while behind Felipe was Grosjean, Button, Ricciardo, and Perez in tenth. Verstappen was now seventh with Wehrlein now tenth. Several drivers were coming out on the supersoft tyre with Gutierrez now fourth, 1m:24.762, using this tyre. Ricciardo was now second, on the soft tyre, with a 1m:24.115. Valtteri and Felipe dropped to sixth and eighth. Vettel would set a 1m:23.254 to go quickest running on the supersoft tyre.

Valtteri would be first out for Williams on the supersoft tyre. Both Mercedes cars were on the supersoft tyre with Rosberg going quickest with a 1m:22.994 but Hamilton would go quicker with a 1m:22.801. Alonso was now eighth as Vettel went quickest in sector one. Ricciardo and Verstappen were fourth and fifth. After their supersoft tyre runs Valtteri and Felipe were sixth and eighth. There would be a Virtual Safety Car when Ocon was to stop at the side of the track seeing the marshals come out to remove it. Raikkonen was now fourth and Grosjean eighth. This would see Valtteri and Felipe drop to seventh and tenth. Both Williams drivers would pit with their rivals at Force India eleventh and twelfth.

Drivers were out doing longer runs on the supersoft tyres possibly giving a hint of their strategies. With thirty eight minutes remaining drivers were out doing longer runs in particular on the supersoft tyre. On his supersoft tyre run Alonso would go sixth with a 1m:24.259 seeing Valtteri and Felipe drop to eighth and eleventh. Verstappen was out on the supersoft tyre and would set a 1m:23.732 to be fifth ahead of his team-mate. Rosberg and Hamilton were now on the medium and soft tyres for their next runs. As the session drew to a close Valtteri and Felipe were running on the soft and medium tyres as the team tried to split their programmes, but Felipe's issue certainly did not help. With the end of the session Valtteri and Felipe were eighth and eleventh.

Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would come out also on the soft tyre and would finish with a 1m:25.007 to be fourth. After seven laps Valtteri would pit ending his first run. He would drop to sixth behind other drivers on the supersoft tyre. With just over an hour remaining Valtteri was out on the supersoft tyre. His first lap on the softer tyre would set a 1m:24.299 to remain sixth. Valtteri continued to run on the supersoft tyre pitting after five laps. After a brief stop he would return on the used supersoft tyres. He would be setting times in the mid 1m:27s looking at assessing his race strategy. Compare this to the times of the Mercedes cars which were in the 1m:26s. Valtteri was now in the 1m:28s after ten laps in his current stint on the supersoft tyre. Valtteri would pit ending his run with twenty five minutes remaining putting eighteen laps on these tyres. Valtteri would return running on the soft tyre setting times in the 1m:27s. As Felipe came out Valtteri had completed ten laps on the soft tyre. He would finish with fifteen laps.


Felipe Massa:
Felipe would be first out for Williams running on new soft tyres. His first timed lap would be a 1m:25.540 to be third telling his engineer that the rear of his car felt less stable. Felipe would drop to fourth then sixth as others went quicker including his team-mate. A 1m:25.340 from Felipe saw an improvement but remaining in sixth. Felipe would improve with a 1m:25.121 but he would join his team-mate back in his garage having completed ten laps. But he would return after a brief stop completing another lap then pitting. Felipe was also now out on the supersoft tyre currently in eleventh then twelfth. Felipe would finish with a 1m:24.556 to be seventh behind his team-mate. He would drop to eighth behind Button. This would become tenth with fifty minutes in the session as he pitted after just three laps. Felipe was out of his car with what must be another issue. Reports had Felipe's issue with a hydraulic issue. Felipe was the only drivers stuck in his pit losing valuable time. Felipe would finally come out running on the medium tyre with six minutes remaining. He would finish his session with just a handful of laps on the medium tyre.
