Team Summary:
After an encouraging Friday practice the Williams Martini team would
commence the Saturday practice for the 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Kvyat
would set the first time a slow 1m:49.133. Perez would set a 1m:44.046 ser
on the supersoft tyre, the same as Kvyat. With ten minutes of the session
completed neither Williams had taken to the track. On the same tyre as Perez
Verstappen would set a 1m:42.461 to go quickest. Of the championship rivals
Rosberg would be first out shortly after followed by Hamilton, with both on
the supersoft tyre. Ricciardo was now second with a 1m:42.609 also using the
supersoft tyre. Perez was third followed by Occon, Wehrlein, and Kvyat.
Rosberg would set a 1m:42.695 to be fourth while Hamilton would set a
1m:42.120 to go quickest.
After their first runs the Williams pair were fifth and sixth but they had
used the ultrasoft tyre while those around them had used the supersoft tyre.
Vettel would go quickest with a 1m:42.034 using the ultrasoft tyre. Hamilton
would report that he had lost power and would cruise back slowly to the pit
lane. Rosberg would improve to set a 1m:42.176 to be third just behind his
team-mate. Both Williams cars continued to run on their ultrasoft tyres.
Hamilton's issue related to related to the harvesting of energy in the
hybrid system. Vettel would improve with a 1m:41.957. Raikkonen would move
up to sixth pushing the Williams pair down to seventh and eighth. Rosberg
would report that the car was pulling to one side under braking as he
pitted.
Rosberg would return to the track with thirty minutes completed in the
session. Ricciardo would move up to second with a 1m:41.831 to be behind
Raikkonen who had set a 1m:41.770 with both using the ultrasoft tyres. The
order was now Raikkonen, Ricciardo, Vettel, Hamilton, Rosberg, Verstappen,
Valtteri, Felipe, Button and Alonso in tenth. Both Williams drivers had
completed ten laps on the ultrasoft tyre. Both Mercedes cars were out on new
ultrasoft tyres with just under twenty five minutes remaining. Rosberg was
quickest in the first sector and he would finish with a 1m:41.168 but
Hamilton would set a 1m:41.065 to be quickest. Raikkonen was now third
followed by Ricciardo, Vettel, Verstappen, Valtteri and Felipe remaining
eighth. But Alonso would go seventh dropping the Williams pair to eighth and
ninth. Hulkenberg was now tenth with sixteen minutes remaining.
Vettel was back out on a new set of ultrasoft tyres and would go quickest in
sector one and two. He would finish with a 1m:40.775 to go quickest.
Ricciardo was on a run on the supersoft tyre and with seven minutes
remaining both Williams cars were out for their qualifying simulations.
Hulkenberg was now sixth but Perez would take this spot. The Williams
drivers had dropped to fourteenth and fifteenth. After their qualifying
simulations they were ninth and fourteenth. Verstappen was now second with a
1m:40.912 with Raikkonen now third followed by Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo,
Perez, Hulkenberg, Valtteri, and Gutierrez tenth as the session ended.
Valtteri Bottas:
Valtteri would follow his team-mate out also on the ultrasoft tyre. On his
first run Valtteri would set a 1m:43.216 to be fifth. Valtteri would pit
after just three laps. It would be a brief stop as he would return to the
track. He was currently sixth with forty minutes remaining. Valtteri would
pit after thirteen laps completed and would drop to eighth as others went
quicker. With eight minutes remaining Valtteri would come back out on a new
set of ultrasoft tyres. Valtteri would improve from fourteenth to ninth with
a 1m:42.076.
Felipe Massa:
For Felipe this would be his last Saturday practice in Formula One and he
would start his session with just under fifteen minutes of the session
completed. He would start his session on the ultrasoft tyre. Felipe would
set a 1m:43.632 to be sixth, dropping to seventh. This would become eighth
as he continued his run on the ultrasoft tyres. Felipe would pit having
completed fourteen laps. Felipe would also drop down one place to be ninth.
Felipe would follow his team-mate out also on a new set of ultrasoft tyres.
Felipe would have a spin but was able to continue. Felipe would set a
1m:42.683 to be only thirteenth dropping to fourteenth. Felipe's final run
was very messy spinning and also running wide at one corner. |
