Team Summary:
Prior to the start of the opening eighteen minute period of qualifying three drivers would be starting from the rear of the grid Ericsson, Hulkenberg and Ricciardo. They all had grid penalties due to new power unit components. there was rain reported close to the Monza circuit. For Williams the big hope was that they could get a car into the second period. Harley would be the first driver to come out using the supersoft tyre. More drivers were coming out all on the supersoft tyre forming a bit of a traffic jam. A 1m:23.684 from Hartley but Leclerc would go ahead with a 1m:23.097 to be quickest. But Vettel would set a 1m:21.578 to be quickest with Sergey second. But Raikkonen would go quickest with a 1m:20.937. After their first runs the Williams were third and fifth but others had yet to set times.

Hamilton was now second and Bottas third. Vettel was now fourth followed by Ocon and Perez. Both Williams drivers were now 9th and 10th and both had pitted. At the front Vettel had gone fastest with a 1m:20.542 followed by Raikkonen and Hamilton. Verstappen was now fifth followed by Ocon, Sainz, Magnussen, Alonso and Perez tenth. The Williams drivers had now dropped to 11th and 13th with Lance ahead of Sergey. After their second runs the Williams drivers would finish in 11th and 13th and into Q2.

Q2 would commence and it would be Hamilton quickest with a 1m:19.798 but Vettel would go ahead with a 1m:19.785. Raikkonen was third followed by Bottas and Verstappen, Grosjean, Magnussen, Gasly and Alonso tenth. neither William drivers had come out for their first runs. Bottas would spin at the pit entry hitting a damp patch. With seven minutes remaining neither Williams driver had come out looking like they would be doing just a single run. Hulkenberg and Ricciardo had not set times as they were getting penalties. Three minutes remaining and both Williams drivers would come out for their runs with all fifteen drivers out on the track. The period would end as drivers set their times. The Williams drivers would finish their laps and with the end of the period would be eighth and twelfth. The top ten would be Vettel, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Bottas, Grosjean, Ocon, Lance, Sainz, and Gasly tenth.

The final period would commence with Ocon, Grosjean, and Gasly coming out joined by others all on the supersoft tyre. The only driver not to come out was Lance for Williams. With the first runs completed it would be Hamilton quickest with a 1m:19.390 followed by Raikkonen, Vettel, Bottas, Verstappen, Sainz, Grosjean, Ocon and Gasly ninth. Lance had yet to set a time. With the second runs it would be Raikkonen fastest from Vettel, Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen, Grosjean, Sainz, Ocon, Gasly and Lance in tenth. The Williams drivers will start Sunday's race from tenth and twelfth with Lance and Sergey were just separated by 0.105 after qualifying. Such a turnaround for the Williams team having endured such a difficult time in the previous races.

Lance Stroll:
Lance would follow his team-mate out also on the supersoft tyre. Lance would set a 1m:22.525 to be third. he would drop down the order but was able to improve with a 1m:22.085 to now be eighth just ahead of his team-mate. Lance would pit after a five lap run. He would drop to 11th while in his pit. He would drop to 15th as others went quicker. Lance was now back out currently in 16th. with under a minute remaining it was going to be a final one lap run from Lance. he would set a personal best on his lap in the first two sectors and would set a 1m:21.838 to be tenth but would drop to 13th and into Q2. Lance would follow his team-mate out for his Q2 run. Lance would set a 1m:21.494 to be seventh dropping to eighth. Lance was able to get into Q3 for the first time and would only complete a single run on supersoft tyre. He would complete his lap and would set a 1m:21.627 to be tenth. A great result from the Williams driver.

Sergey Sirotkin:
Sergey would be the first out for Williams in the opening period using the supersoft tyre. He would set a 1m:22.605 to be second dropping to fifth. In seventh Sergey would continue to push setting a 1m:22.171 to be eighth. He would drop to ninth behind Lance. Sergey would also pit after a five lap run. In his pit he would dropt o 13th. he would return with under five minutes remaining on a new set of supersoft tyres. Sergey would improve with a 1m:22.007 to be 14th. Sergey was also on a better lap with the period ending. Sergey would set a 1m:21.813 to be 11th and into Q2. Sergey would come out for his only Q2 run. Sergey would set a 1m:21.732 to be 12th.
