By Andrew Hooper
October 26 2019
The second Friday practice session for the 2019 Mexican GP would see a session where little would change in terms of the results for the ROKiT Williams team with George Russell and Robert Kubica slowest. Robert would return for this session after having seen Nicholas Latifi take his car in FP1. The team would continue their evaluations of the new front wing combined with the updated barge boards. It was positive to see the gap betwen the pair at just 0.18s. Both drivers would compleet longer runs late in the session as they split their tyre evaluations.

hard and medium tyres were the only ones been seen in the early stages of

Vettel had improved his quickest time with a 1m:17.960. The session would be
red flagged when Albon was to crash at Turn seven spinning into the barrier.
With the restart of the session the track would become very busy with both
Williams drivers coming out for soft tyre runs. The team was continuing
their evaluations of the new front wing combined with the updated barge
boards. Hamilton on the medium tyre would move up to third followed by
Leclerc, Sainz, and Gasly sixth. But Gasly would improve to be second but
Verstappen would take this spot while the Williams would complete their
first laps on the soft tyre. At the front the Ferrari's were out on the soft
tyre and Leclerc would go quickest with a 1m:17.072 only to be passed by
Vettel with a 1m:16.607. The Williams drivers were 18th and 19th with fifty
minutes remaining.
Ricciardo would move up to 8th as more drivers were on soft tyres runs.
Verstappen was now second behind Vettel. On the soft tyre Bottas would move
to fourth followed by Kvyat and Gasly. Hamilton was now fifth also on the
soft tyre with thirty five minutes remaining. Gasly was now seventh followed
by Sainz, Hulkenberg and Norris tenth. The Williams drivers were on split
tyre evaluations assessing the soft, medium and hard tyres on longer runs.
Under ten minutes remaining and the Williams drivers were now out on the
medium and hard tyres. With five minutes remaining longer runs were the
focus across all teams. With the end of the session it would be Vettel
quickest from Verstappen, Leclerc, Bottas, Hamilton, Kvyat, Gasly, Sainz,
Hulkenberg and Norris tenth. The Williams drivers would remain 18thand 19th.
