| Jerez - Imola Test
26:02:2003 Day Two |
| |
| The second
day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team would again see the team dividing
their efforts at two circuits, one at Jerez and the other at Imola.
At
Jerez Juan Pablo would again have to deal with wet conditions while he
continued to work on evaluating various setups for the new FW25. The fastest
lap for Juan Pablo was a 1m:29.195, which was over four seconds behind
Michael Schumacher in the new F200-GA.
The team would come away
pleased with the progress that has been made in regard to Michelin's wet
weather tyres, which have been performing very well in comparison to the
2002 tyre.
Juan Pablo's test
Montoya did a solid job in Jerez. Especially the new wet tyres were
convincing. As for the new P83 engine it continued to show that its
reliability was encouraging.
Also joining the WilliamsF1 team was McLaren who continued development work
on the MP4/17D. Both McLaren drivers Coulthard and Raikkonen were present.
At Imola Marc Gene again conducted the test and at the end of the day he
would finish with the fastest time, with a best lap of 1m:22.818. He would
complete forty seven laps with part of his testing would focus on a new
brake system.
WilliamsF1 Test Team manager Tim Newton commented on the days testing: "In
Jerez today we evaluated more Michelin tyres and completed detailed chassis
and software set-up for Melbourne. Here at Imola we worked also on tyres but
also some other systems development." |
