Jerez - Imola Test 27:02:2003 Day Three

Day three of testing would see Ralf take over from Juan Pablo at Jerez while at Imola Marc Gene would continue as the team moved closer to finalising their testing prior to the teams departure for Melbourne.

After the comments from various WilliamsF1 team members regarding the FW25's aerodynamics the team was in full swing trying to further develop the new car. For Ralf the day would focus on completing a race simulation. The day would start wet but would dry off late morning allowing the team to work through their test programme.

By the end of the day Ralf would have completed one hundred laps of the Jerez circuit, without any problems. His best time, a 1m:20.795, would see finish the day fifth fastest behind McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen. The team would try various aerodynamic setups on the car.

At Imola Marc Gené, using the old FW24, would wrap up the teams testing, completing eighty laps and finishing ahead of McLaren's Alexander Wurz and Toyota's Ricardo Zonta, with a best time of 1m:22.650. BAR driver Jacques Villeneuve was faster on this day.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: "We managed a quality endurance run in Jerez which was helpful. We've finished now in San Marino so there is just one more day of testing for us (Ralf in Jerez tomorrow) before Melbourne."
