Paul Richard Test 07:05:2003 Day Two of Four

Day two of the WilliamsF1 team's Paul Ricard test would see the team joined by several others, and at the end of the day it would again be test driver Marc Gene who would set the fastest time.

Gene continued to test with an FW25. Marc completed 101 laps of the circuit with a best lap time of 1m:11.819. Next would be McLaren's Alexander Wurz with a time of 1m:12.317. Gene's time was almost two seconds faster than his previous days time.

Gene would spend the day working on race set up for the next Grand Prix in Austria. Gene would suffer only one problem, a small mechanical failure in the afternoon while his BMW engine ran without fault. Tyre testing also was part of the test program and those at Michelin were hopeful of having a good tyre for the A1 Ring.

Williams' Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: "The test programme continued at Paul Ricard today with endurance running, the objective being further development of the FW25 chassis. Combined with this, we also ran various new tyre compounds as well as several new engine components."

Overall Marc had a satisfactory day testing, with the team back tomorrow.
