For the BMW WilliamsF1 team the regular post Grand Prix test session got under way at the Paul Ricard circuit, with a four day test scheduled. Both Juan Pablo Montoya and Marc Gené were present to conduct the driving duties.

The WilliamsF1 team was joined by McLaren and Toyota, and by the end of the days testing Juan Pablo and Marc had set the first and second fastest times. Both drivers would work through an extensive test programme will also preparing for the next Grand Prix at Monaco.

For both drivers they had to deal with windy conditions with the Mistral affecting the circuit. For Juan Pablo he would work on the set-up of his FW25, completing eighty nine laps with a fastest time of 1m:12.089. This was over half a second better than team-mate Gene's time.

For Marc he would complete ninety seven laps. He would concentrate mainly on tyre testing for Michelin, looking at compounds as well as different tyre constructions. His best time would be a lap of 1m:22.673.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: “We had a fairly promising day today with Juan Pablo and Marc setting the fastest times of the session. Despite strong wind speeds hampering intended set up work, we managed to complete some tyre testing and systems development work as well as spending some time focusing on the brake system. If weather conditions improve tomorrow, we can get back on track with set up development otherwise it will be more of the same. “
