British GP Saturday 1st Practice

For the BMW WilliamsF1 team  Saturday's opening practice would see Juan Pablo finish in fourth and Ralf seventh, as both drivers worked through their program in preparation for this afternoons qualifying.

The opening Saturday practice at Silverstone would see Minardi's Justin Wilson first out onto the track. He was joined by BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher who quickly went out and set the quickest time.

Montoya checks the times.Ralf's lap of 1m:24.162 would be the early benchmark, but it would quickly be beaten as other drivers took to the track. Ferrari's Michael Schumacher would set the fastest time with a lap of 1m:22.929. BAR's Jenson Button would move into second.

Juan Pablo was now on track, joined by Jordan's Ralph Firman and McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen. Juan Pablo would quickly set the second fastest time. Barrichello would move into third, while Sauber's Heinz Harald Frentzen was eighth. But for Rubens, after his disappointing Friday, would move to the top of the times with a lap of 1m:22.397.

For David Coulthard he would move into fifth despite a slight mistake. Juan Pablo would improve his time but not enough to see him move out of third position. Renault's Fernando Alonso would not occupy fourth with BAR's Jacques Villeneuve in fifth. Michael would also improve his time but remain in second.

For Kimi Raikkonen he would now find himself down the order in tenth, just in front of Frentzen. All the teams are working through various fuel levels in preparation for this afternoons qualifying. For Toyota Panis and Da Matta would move i to eleventh and twelfth.

For Sauber Nick Heidfeld would move into tenth. With twenty minutes remaining Raikkonen would put in a very quick lap that would see him jump to the top of the times with a lap of 1m:22.263. So at the end of the session the top three were Raikkonen, Barrichello, and Michael Schumacher.
