Tyres found to be legal

The tyres, both Bridgestone and Michelin, taken for lab tests at Monza last month have been found to conform with the rules. The FIA sent the tyres to England but the tests were designed to establish a method for scrutineering of compounds for next years Formula One season. This ran contrary to what was reported in the media, where it was reported that there was an issue with the Bridgestone tyres.

A FIA spokesperson told Atlas F1: "We took samples from both types of tyres and sent them to a British lab. We wanted to come up with a method of checking tyre compound next year, to establish a protocol for next season. The tyres have been tested in several ways and the results have been completely conclusive. We are satisfied by the results."

There have been claims that Bridgestone was running different compound tyres front and back, which is illegal. The FIA wanted to make sure that they had an accurate way of measuring tyre compounds.

Tyres from both Michelin and Bridgestone were taken at the Italian Grand Prix and tested in order to determine the most reliable method of obtaining an accurate result.
