| Head blasts Ferrari decision | |
WilliamsF1 Technical
Director, Patrick Head has made his feelings regarding the issue of the
decision by Ferrari to apply team orders so that Michael Schumacher would
win the Austrian GP while team-mate Barrichello would come second, despite
the fact that Rubens had victory within his grasp only to be told to give it
away. "I
feel very sorry for Rubens and have to say that was pretty much the most
cynical event I've seen in all my years in formula one," Head said. "I think when you're Ferrari and produce a car that's so far ahead of the rest you have an obligation to Formula One and to the fans to provide some racing but instead we had a disgusting and cynical move." Head's views were supported by BMW Motorsport Chief and former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger. Berger also attacked the decision made by the Ferrari team. "It's a terrible decision," Berger commented. "I can understand it if you are fighting for the championship - but in such an early stage of the season that kind of decision is not very good for our sport." |
