Michelin should take credit

The 2003 Formula One season would see the BMW WilliamsF1 team score four wins and the team would finish second in the constructors championship. Juan Pablo and Ralf would finish third and fifth in the drivers championship.

For Ralf Schumacher the success that the BMW WilliamsF1 came in large part due to the performances of the teams tyre supplier Michelin. Ralf said that Michelin should take credit for, "at least fifty percent of our success."

Ralf explained that at the start of 2003 season the WilliamsF1 team had major tyre problems with the new FW25. "But we learnt a lot and changed the car."

Ralf explained that as the season progressed the team was able to make the best of Michelin's tyres.

Ralf added: "McLaren used to be the better team and would really be careful with their rear tyres, but now we always take the soft rear tyres. That was the biggest advantage from our side."
