Hopes Ferrari is not sanctioned

With the Ferrari team having to appear in front of the FIA on the 26th June there is some concern as to what effect it would have on the British Grand Prix if some form of ban weer imposed.

One person who has a special interest is Rob Bain, CEO of Octagon Motorsport, the firm that holds the British Grand Prix rights. Bain has said that he hopes that Ferrari and its drivers will not be sanctioned for their actions in the Austrian Grand Prix.

The FIA is looking to Ferrari to provide an explanation as to the circumstances of the organised finish, and the actions of Schumacher and Barrichello on the podium. The World Council could punish the team and the drivers with a fine or a race ban. If they were to be banned, it would most likely come into force at the following week’s race in Silverstone on July 7.

In an interview with the BBC Bain said: "It's a worry. Schumacher is a leading driver and Ferrari are a leading team."

"If they were not here it would be a problem for us, but I would be surprised if that was the case."

As for whether those who had already purchased their tickets were returning them Bain added: "There have been very few. In fact, we are still getting over 200 calls a day from people wanting tickets. The hotline is still hot."
