Formula Farce

At the Austrian Grand Prix we were confronted with the sight of Formula One fans booing and giving the Ferrari drivers the thumbs down after their controversial finish to the Austrian Grand Prix where we saw Rubens Barrichello hand his race victory to team-mate Michael Schumacher.

Michael & RubensTwo weeks on and there was concern as to how fans would react to the Ferrari team. It was apparent that many fans were still angry with what the Ferrari team did. Many fans were seen wearing t-shirts with the logo Stop Formula Farce'.

On the first day of practice as both Ferrari drivers took to the track they were greeted with boos and thumbs down from around the circuit. Even though things did settle down as the day wore on it was still an unusual sight to see fans making their unhappiness clear.

Bernie Ecclestone commented on how he was not happy with the actions that Ferrari took but added that he felt that if the Ferrari team knew what reaction they were to produce they would have thought twice about it. Ecclestone said:
"I am sure that had they known what the reaction from the fans was going to be, they wouldn't have let it happen."
