Valencia Test 28:01:2004 Day Two of Three

The morning session of the second day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team at Valencia would see both Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya beat the track record for the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

Ralf SchumacherMcLaren's David Coulthard had set a new record the previous week while testing the MP4-19. Both Ralf and Juan Pablo were driving FW26's. They were joined by Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia, former WilliamsF1 test driver.

In the morning session Juan Pablo was to set the second fastest time with a lap of 1m:09.679. Ralf would set a time of 1m:09.690. Pizzonia was fourth fastest driving the 2003 FW25B.

Fastest in the morning was Ferrari's Michael Schumacher. He would set a new lap record. But the German was at the wheel of last years F2003-GA. His time was a 1m:09.429, over two tenths faster than the previous record.

Any comparison between the times been set by Michael in the 2003 car and the WilliamsF1 drivers, driving 2004 cars, is near impossible. Only when Ferrari starts testing its new F2004 can any sort of comparison be made. Testing continues in the afternoon.
