Day Two of Three |
| |
| By the end
of the second day of testing at Valencia BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo
Montoya had further lowered the track record. In the morning session the
times were headed by Ferrari's Michael Schumacher but Juan Pablo came out an
posted a quicker time.
On
a day that was sunny with blue skies Juan Pablo's time of 1m:09.318 would be
over a tenth faster than Michael. The Ferrari driver was using the 2003
F2003-GA model rather than the F2004. Joining Juan Pablo was Ralf Schumacher
and Antonio Pizzonia.
Ralf would finish the day third behind his brother while Pizzonia was
fourth, driving the FW25B. Both Ralf and Juan Pablo were using the new FW26.
Juan Pablo spent his day carrying out tyre testing for Michelin, evaluating
various tyre compounds. He would complete fifty four laps.
Ralf would continue to focus
on setup work on the new FW26, completing a total of eighty laps with a best
lap time of 1m:09.690. Pizzonia would complete eighty three laps, finishing
with a time of 1m:10.157.
WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael said: "Today Juan Pablo did
some set-up runs in the morning and tyre testing in the afternoon. He found
two good compounds with Michelin that Marc will do long runs on in
tomorrow's race simulation. Ralf joined us today and spent the entire day
testing different mechanical and electronic set-ups. Antonio Pizzonia also
re-joined us today and worked on electronics and tyre set-ups in the FW25.”
Test driver Marc Gené will return to testing on Thursday, joining Ralf and
Antonio. |
