Jerez Test 14:02:2004 Day Four of Five

On a day that was specially set aside for wet weather tyre testing for BMW WilliamsF1 tyre supplier Michelin Juan Pablo Montoya and Antonio Pizzonia spent the day running on an artificially flooded Jerez circuit. Juan Pablo would have an FW26 at his disposal, while Pizzonia was to use an FW25..

The wet weather tyre testing will be conducted over two days, with the WilliamsF1 team testing with BAR. Come Sunday the WilliamsF1 team will test alone.

BAR's Takuma Sato's would set the fastest time almost a second faster than Montoya, who set the second fastest time. Pizzonia was third. The WilliamsF1 drivers would spend the day conducting runs of four to six laps. Juan Pablo would complete eighty nine laps with a best time of 1:26.674. Antonio would complete forty one laps with a best time of 1:28.570.

WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael commented on the testing by saying: "Juan Pablo and Antonio started a wet weather tyre test today for Michelin. The circuit was artificially flooded for the duration of the session. Both drivers carried out a number of short runs, Juan in the FW26 and Antonio behind the wheel of the FW25. Tomorrow is our last day here during which we will complete the wet running with Antonio."

The final day of testing at Jerez will again see Antonio conduct wet weather tyre testing. The team then heads to Valencia next week.
