Day Two of Three |
| |
| Despite
having to watch McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen set a new track record, beating
Juan Pablo Montoya's previous time set the day before, the BMW WilliamsF1
team came away from the days testing having successfully worked through
their test programme.
On
the second day of testing for the WilliamsF1 team Ralf Schumacher would
replace test driver Marc Gene. Ralf would finish the day third quickest with
Juan Pablo fourth. The teams would be greeted by wet conditions in the
morning with the track remaining damp until later in the morning.
For Juan Pablo his day
focused on a race simulation, which he completed without any problems. He
would complete one hundred & nineteen laps. His best lap time would be a
1m:09.436.
For Ralf his day would see him working through various setups on the FW26.
He would also test the cars traction control system. He would complete
seventy six laps with a best lap time of 1:09.406, which was the best time
that Ralf has achieved at this circuit.
WilliamsF1 Chief Operations
Engineer Sam Michael commented: "Today Juan completed a race distance, at
the same time comparing some tyre compounds for Michelin. Ralf worked on
systems checks, traction control and tyre testing in preparation for
Melbourne."
Friday will see the final day of testing for the team. Ralf will be joined
by Marc Gene. |
