Ralf receives reprimand

During the running of the Bahrain Grand Prix BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher was involved in an incident that would see his car make contact with that of BAR's Takuma Sato. The clash occurred as Ralf tried to pass the Japanese driver going into Turn two. Ralf was alongside the BAR and as he tried to turn in the rear of his car hit the front of Sato's.

Schumacher & Sato AccidentRalf's car was pitched into the air but would come down on its wheels spinning off the track. Ralf would stop at the end of the lap for a precautionary check of his car.

But the race stewards viewed the incident in such a way as to lay blame with Ralf for the collision. They would not impose any penalty but did reprimand him for not giving Sato enough room.

Another driver to came away with a penalty was Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello. The team was fined $10,000 fine for a pitlane incident where Rubens was released out of his pit when it was not safe to do so. Rubens went out before Renault's Jarno Trulli.

If Ralf received another two reprimands he can then be given a further harsher penalty including a race ban.
