| WilliamsF1 did contact FIA | |
| It was
previously reported that it was the WilliamsF1 team that had raised an
objection regarding a new rear wing design that the BAR team was set to
introduce. Now the WilliamsF1 team has challenged this by saying that yes they did contact the FIA but it was in regard to the design of their own rear wing, which was of a similar design to that of BAR. The design of both the WilliamsF1 and BAR rear wings was to have featured a third element that was fixed via guide vanes to the second one. This design may of been legal because the two elements were fixed together by guide vanes, such as to make them one unit. But the WilliamsF1 team, according to a team spokesman, "had concerns" about the legality of such a design. They also denied the view that the WilliamsF1 team went out of their way to hinder BAR's introduction of their new rear wing. |
