Jerez Test 24:06:2004 Day Two

The second day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team at the Jerez circuit would again see Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia carrying out the driving duties. Again with sunny and warm conditions the team was able to work through their test schedule.

Marc would continue the tyre testing that he had started the previous day focusing on tyres for the French Grand Prix. He would complete eighty four laps with a best lap time of 1m:18.116minutes. During his testing he was able to complete more than a race distance which helped in the evaluation of the performance of the teams Michelin tyres.

Antonio would complete forty five laps, with his best lap time been a 1m:18.809minutes, thus improving on yesterday's personal best by about a second. He focused on testing new traction control components.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: "On our second day at Jerez we continued with the work we started yesterday, with Marc testing various set-up options on the FW26 as well as progressing the tyre testing schedule with Michelin. He also completed some systems checks on the car this afternoon. Antonio, meanwhile, concentrated on development work of the FW26.”

Tomorrow is the final day of testing.
