It would be a disappointing qualifying for the BMW WilliamsF1 team with their drivers down in 8th and 12th positions. Juan pablo would out qualify Marc but neither driver came close to be near the front of the grid. Juan pablo is 1.1 seconds behind the pole time set by Raikkonen.

British GP Saturday Final Qualifying

Final qualifying for the British Grand Prix would see a disappointing set of results for the BMW WilliamsF1 team with Juan Pablo and Marc down in eighth and twelfth.

After the strange sight of cars setting slow times in pre-qualifying the final qualifying would begin with the Jordan of Nick Heidfeld. He would end his lap with a time of 1m:22.677 to take a very provisional pole. The Sauber of Giancarlo Fisichella would not make his qualifying run seeing him start from the back of the grid. He was to have lost ten grid position after a penalty for changing his engine on Friday.

MontoyaChristian Klien would come out in his Jaguar. A 1m:21.559 and provisional pole for the Austrian. Team-mate Webber was next out and, even with drizzle on the circuit for a short time, Mark would set a time of 1m:20.004 to go fastest. Next out was WilliamsF1's Mar Gene and the Spaniard would lose time to Webber finishing with a 1m:20.335 to be second.

The next five drivers would be Juan Pablo, Michael Schumacher, Sato, Barrichello, and Coulthard. Juan Pablo would start his lap and a 25.2 through sector one would see Juan Pablo less than a tenth ahead. But in sector two he would take 0.6 off Webber's time. He would go fastest with a time of 1m:19.378.

Michael Schumacher was next and he would easily beat Juan Pablo's time, taking 0.4 off him in sector one. A further 0.3 in sector two and finishes with a stunning 1m:18.710 to go easily fastest.

Now Sato's turn. He would lose 0.5 in sector one to Michael, another four tenths in sector two, and goes third with a lap time of 1m:19.688. Could Ferrari team-mate Barrichello snatch pole from Michael. He would take 0.2 from Michael in sector one, be 0.4 up after sector two, to finish ahead of Michael with a time of 1m:18.305.

GeneFor David Coulthard his lap would see him struggle to match the times of the Ferrari's but with a 1m:19.148 he would move into third. The next group would see Baumgartner, Bruni, da Matta, and Alonso. So with the threat of rain gone Baumgartner would start his lap. he would finish with a 1m:24.117 to be tenth. Team-mate Bruni would beat Zolt's time with a lap time of 1m:23.437 to be tenth fastest. Toyota's Cristiano da Matta was next out and the Brazilian was eighth quickest through the first sector with a 25.4, the same for the second sector, to finish his lap in eighth with a time of 1m:20.545.

Could Alonso match his French qualifying efforts. His lap would see him 0.5 down after sector two. Despite setting the fastest final sector the Renault driver would finish his lap with a time of 1m:18.811 to be third. Now it was the turn of pace setter Kimi Raikkonen. The Finn would drop 0.4 in sector one, sets his fastest time in sector two, and crosses the line after taking 0.4 off Rubens in the final sector to set the fastest time, with a lap of 1m:18.233.

MontoyaThe final group was made up of Trulli, Pantano, Panis, Massa, and Button. Trulli was out and would be a tenth down after sector one, three tenths down after sector two, and he would cross the line in fourth with a time of 1m:18.715. This would see just ahead of his team-mate.

Now for Jordan's Pantano and with a time of 1:22.458 he would finish in thirteenth. Panis would start his lap and he would be eleventh fastest with a lap time of 1m:20.335. The only driver in this final group to have a chance at pole was Button. But Massa would be next out and he would move into tenth with a time of 1m:20.202. Now it all came down to Button and he would be 0.1 up on Kimi after sector one, 0.05 down after sector two, and he would finish with a time of 1m:18.580 to be in third 0.347 off Kimi's time.

This would see McLaren secure their first pole of the season and see them turn things around. As for the WilliamsF1 team Juan Pablo and marc would be in eighth and twelfth positions on the grid. It again is going to be a very difficult race on Sunday.
