Representatives from Michelin, Pierre Dupasquier Michelin’s Competitions Director, has responded to claims coming from McLaren's Adrian Newey that the tyres that Michelin are supplying to the various teams are developed to suit the WilliamsF1 cars.

Pierre Dupasquier Michelin’s Competitions Director & RalfMcLaren Technical Director Adrian Newey said that the Michelin tyres that were supplied did not suit the McLaren cars and upset their handling. Dupasquier made it clear that the tyres that were developed and supplied to the various teams were aimed at been suitable to all cars.

Dupasquier said: "We reserve our very special treatment to everybody and so far we have not experienced any major trouble about it."

"Every time we did a significant improvement at the front or the rear of the car, it has been perceived as an improvement for both companies."

It does seem odd that McLaren, after winning in Monaco, have now only come out saying that the Michelin tyres were unsuitable for their cars. Like WilliamsF1 they have had more than enough opportunity to privately express their concerns to Michelin.
