The second day
of the BMW WilliamsF1 teams test at Jerez would see Mark Webber and Nick
Heidfeld continue the test programme for the 2005 FW27.
Both drivers would focus on testing various setups of the new car, while
Nick would also be involved in tyre compound evaluations for tyre supplier Michelin.
Mark would complete thirty four laps, with a best lap time of 1m:17.881, while Nick
would complete 121 laps, setting the second fastest time of the day,
a 1m:17.325. Mark was limited in his track time by technical problems with
his car as well as an off track moment.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager
Tim Newton commented: “Nick enjoyed another productive
day today at Jerez, managing to clock a massive 122 laps in the FW27 while
carrying out set-up work and tyre testing with Michelin. Mark,
unfortunately, didn’t have quite
such a successful day following technical problems in the morning and an off
in the afternoon, both of which left him confined to the garage for the
majority of the day. Both drivers will continue testing tomorrow, by which
time we will hopefully have rectified the problem on Mark’s car.” |
