On a cold and wet day the BMW WilliamsF1 team would have their second last
day of testing prior to the opening race of the 2005 season in Melbourne.
Nick Heidfeld replaced Mark Webber for the day but could do little in the
way of further
development of the FW27.
But the team and tyre supplier Michelin did take the opportunity to test wet
weather tyres, including two different intermediate compounds. Nick would
complete sixty one laps, with a best lap time of 1m:26.582 minutes. Nick
will continue testing of the final day of the teams Valencia test.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton commented: "Unfortunately, Nick’s
penultimate day of testing before the season starts was too wet to do any
constructive testing, so we focused on systems checks and familiarisation
work with the FW27 in preparation for Melbourne. Hopefully the weather will
improve for our final day of track work with Nick tomorrow.” |
