In a race that was full of events BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya would finish third in the British Grand Prix. Ralf would finish in eighth. The race was one where tyres would play a crucial role and it was Bridgestone's day, with only Montoya representing Michelin in the top six.

British Grand Prix: Third for Montoya

In a race that saw the rain play a major role, and showed the continued domination by Bridgestone BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya was able to finally get back onto the podium with a fine third place. His team-mate Ralf Schumacher was down in eighth, one lap behind.

For Ralf his race would again see him at the mercy of his refuelling rig with Ralf losing time in the pits as he had problems getting fuel. Ralf would be stationary for over forty seconds while the mechanics tried to put fuel into his car.

Not the result that the WilliamsF1 team was after but in the difficult conditions it was still a good result with Montoya's third.

In a race where only one of the top six places was a Michelin driver, Montoya, the Bridgestone runners held the upper hand once the rain commenced to fall onto the track. The intermediate tyres of Bridgestone were far superior than the wet weather tyres of Michelin.

The race would be dominated by the Ferrari team with Michael Schumacher scoring his seventh win of the season, with team-mate Barrichello second.  Such was the advantage that the Ferrari drivers had in the conditions that Barrichello, who stalled his car and had to take the start from the rear of the grid, was able to move up and finish second.

For the BAR team the race would see them score the team’s first points of the season with an excellent double finish of fourth and fifth led by Jacques Villeneuve. This again highlighted the advantage the Bridgestone runners had, with BAR been supplied by the Japanese manufacturer.

For Sauber's Nick Heidfeld he would finish in sixth place, followed by Giancarlo Fisichella, Ralf Schumacher, Felipe Massa, and David Coulthard.

For McLaren their day would see Coulthard spin while Raikkonen would have his engine fail. For the McLaren team their strategy left a lot to be desired as Coulthard was left to struggle around the track on grooved tyres while the rain fell. Raikkonen would have four pit stops.
