Barcelona Test 06:04:2005 Day One

The opening day of testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 team at the Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona, would see Nick Heidfeld and test driver Antonio Pizzonia carry out the driving duties. The conditions at the track were sunny

HeidfeldBoth drivers would focus on further development work on the FW27 in preparation for the next round of the Formula One championship, the San Marino Grand Prix. This would involve chassis setup work in the morning followed by tyre testing. Nick and Antonio would finish the day in fifth and sixth positions respectively, with Nick completing a massive 123 laps with a best time of 1m:15.337.

Both drivers would have moments out on the track with the pair both having spins at the Repsol corner. Antonio's spin would see him hit the barriers slightly damaging his car. Nick was able to avoid hitting anything, jokingly saying that he "just wanted to have a chat with Antonio."
