WilliamsF1 has difficult race

The British Grand Prix would see both BMW WilliamsF1 drivers struggle with the difficult conditions. For both drivers they had to contend with the fact that their Michelin tyres were not up to the tricky conditions. Ralf was also faced with having to contend with delays in his pitstop when his fuel rig failed to deliver fuel to his car. Overall it was a very difficult race for the team, but Juan Pablo was able to finish in third which was some consolation for the team.

Juan Pablo MontoyaWith the arrival of the rain at the circuit both WilliamsF1 drivers were forced to switch to full wet tyres. For there main competition, Ferrari, they were able to use intermediate tyres which were far more suitable for the conditions. Even with the difficulties of the race Juan Pablo was pleased to at least have scored points in this race after his recent series of retirements.

Juan Pablo would comment on the race by saying: "It was a crazy race because of the changing weather conditions. My start wasn’t too bad and I could keep Michael Schumacher behind me for a while, but then he passed me and started to get away.

"Then the rain came and decided the race as we could not keep pace on our tyres. We have massively improved in the wet, but there is still work to do. I managed to catch up again when it dried, and it was very good to finish and collect some points for the team."

As for Ralf his race was to fall apart when he was delayed in the pits by a faulty fuel rig, losing over forty seconds. As a result he was only able to finish eighth.

"At the beginning in the rain, everything went quite well," Ralf said. "We were clearly the best placed Michelin team, and I had a good chance to get some points. But then unfortunately we had a problem with my fuel rig again, like one month ago in Canada – that was it for today. I am very disappointed."
