Heidfeld amazed

Having made his final pit stop BMW WilliamsF1 driver Nick Heidfeld was running in third in the European Grand Prix, and it looked like this is where he would finish his race. But in a dramatic last lap the then leader Kimi Raikkonen would retire seeing Nick promoted to second.

After the race Heidfeld spoke of his amazement with the result. He said: "I was amazed. After pole I didn't expect to win, I thought if everything went perfect I would be third.

"You always want to win but I am very happy with second. We started from pole but I knew it would be hard to win. I would have thought that if everything worked out perfectly I could have finished third and then with Kimi we got second."
