For BMW
Motorsport Director Dr Mario Theissen another second place for Nick Heidfeld
in the European Grand Prix must have been particularly pleasing as we has to
come out and say that "He (Nick) is apparently worth every dollar he earns."
Theissen praised Heidfeld for his race and how Nick had what could only be
described as the perfect race.
Theissen
said: "He had a flawless race, very good, the right strategy with three
stop, it was on paper equal to a two stop and he said 'I want to go for it'
and it turned out to be the right one.
"He had a free
race almost the whole time, he got stuck just before his final stop he went
up onto Kimi so that was put forward a bit but apart from that it was a
perfect race. He achieved the optimum result, we were lucky, but it was an
important podium again."
As for the teams other driver Mark Webber and his crash in the first corner
of the race Theissen was somewhat more critical as he felt that the accident
was avoidable.
Theissen added: "I didn't speak to him but on television it looked to me as
if he could have turned in earlier. Maybe he tried and he was just late on
the brakes, but there was room to turn in earlier and that could have
avoided the collision." |
