Silverstone Test 01:06:2005 Day One

For the BMW WilliamsF1 team they would return to the Silverstone circuit for a  further three days of testing. Nick Heidfeld and Nico Rosberg were present on a day that was overcast in the morning, followed by rain in the afternoon.

Both drivers primary focus was on testing for the fly away races of the season in North American. The weather would restrict both drivers in their test schedules.

Nick was third quickest on the day while team test driver Nico Rosberg was  slowest. Nico was involved in an incident when he went off at the Copse corner, without any consequences.

Nick would complete forty five laps, with a personal best of 1m:22.044, while Nico covered forty laps and posted a time of 1m:24.097. Both drivers would focus on set-up work with the FW27 in the morning. They would also practice several race starts, something which has been a major problem with the FW27.

Tomorrow Mark Webber, will join Nick at Silverstone for day two of the test.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton commented: "It stayed mostly dry this morning so we managed to make a start on some tyre work. We also did several different systems checks and some start development. Typical Silverstone weather this afternoon, however, prevented us from carrying out any really constructive work so we’re looking forward to a better day tomorrow.“
